Wearing flowers on the hair is an auspicious symbol in our hindu traditions. A plant grows in the dirty soil n it converts into its food whatever remains available in it heedless of the filth present in the soil. Flowers grow on it with attractive colours andemitting fragrance. They mean to say that how much ever tribulations we suffer and whatsoever filthy atmosphere we live in we must make the best out of it and like flowers we must emit the fragrance from our hearts having a smiling face. For this reason gods loved the flowers because they too are like flowers.

Gradually it became our custom for the Hindu women to wear flowers on any auspicious day. Every woman must adorn flowers on her hair because it symbolizes longevity of her married life. Not for fun and not for beauty that she should decorate her hair with flowers, but for the reason that she must b like a flower in her attitude towards her family.
